Primed + Prepped

February 26, 2016 Zoe Cope

I'm digging these nude tones mixed with light pink and saturated yet pastel blues. I've been editing an art erotica video I filmed a few months back this week so I think I've been drawn to nude forms and pallets this week.

This was a sad yet great week in my world of books this week because I came to the end of the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I've been listening to this series since the summer as audiobooks and absolutely love the stories. They are based around the fairy tale archetypes Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Snow White and each installment focuses on a different main character in an over arching story. Did I mention this takes place in the future, Cinder is part cyborg, and people have colonized the moon and have mind manipulation/control powers? The books are really well written and even though love plays a major aspect to each individual's story, the overall mission of the characters is never forgotten and it was a great read to see how all the different character's plots interweave.

It was Wes Anderson week for me and I watched The Life Aquatic for the first time and Moonrise Kingdom for the third time. Of course I was blown away by the set design, costumes, and locations of Aquatic and I was also surprised at how our main character was kind of a prick. The movie was darker than I'd anticipated and I really loved it for that.

Ophelia by The Lumineers really spoke to me this week. I love his voice and the piano was such a nice element to the song. As I was looking for an image for the title for this section I stumbled upon this gorgeous set by Alessandra Santini. I love the dreamscape aspect to her collections.

I'm building inventory currently for a few shows and events I'm doing in early March along with Lauren Bird Horowitz author of Shattered Blue. I was lucky to do a custom capsule collection inspired by her novel and get to go with her to a few book signings and school talks she'll be giving.

I took the train up to Seattle this past weekend so wanted to share some moments from the trip. It kind of felt like a stay-cation since I live so close, but it was great to get a break and step away from my usual places and sights.
